We have done it again and have filled our 300 entries! New this year, we have
decided to increase our numbers by adding a few more participants. Just like years past, many new racers will join the tried
and true who race with us year after year.
Below are our race details to help you have an enjoyable and
safe event. Please take a few minutes and read this email. ATTN. PAST PARTICIPANTS: Most of this info stays the same from year to year, so to save you time, I have
highlighted items that have changed. Attached
you will find the tentative seeds. It may be updated if racers notify me and are not able to race this year.
PACKET PICK UP, BODY MARKING and CHIP TIMING
You can pick up your bib number and t-shirt on Friday from 5:30-7:30
PM at the Lewisburg Ice Rink or on Saturday from 6-7:40 AM at the registration table. All racers must pick up their bib by 7:40 AM and attend the pre-race meeting at 7:45 AM.
At packet pick-up you will receive your race bib number, a bike tag, t-shirt and sign your waiver. Most of you
will receive a t-shirt, however if you registered late I can’t guarantee if you will or the size or type (cotton vs.
polyester). PLEASE NOTE: T-shirts sizes cannot be changed. Feel
free to stop back after registration closes to see if you can swap sizes if there are any left overs. You MUST bring
your bib number to the body marking area on Saturday morning in order to be marked and receive your timing chip. Your bib
number should be worn on the FRONT during the run portion of the event. The runner in a relay should wear this bib, however
ALL members of the relay team must get body marked.
After getting body marked in the morning, please move to
our timer, PaRunners, and get your chip. It MUST be worn on your ankle (I put it on my left ankle so it doesn’t get
caught up in my gears). Please notify the timer if you find any errors on your registration info. RELAY TEAMS-the swimmer
will wear the chip first, and then pass to the biker, then to the runner.
PARKING
AND DROP OFF
You may drop off your bike/gear at the transition area located on St. Lawrence Street in
the morning; however you CANNOT park on St. Lawrence St. Our parking is in the Pennsylvania House parking lot across from
the Ice Rink on St. Mary’s St. Please drop off your materials and move on in timely fashion to afford this opportunity
to others.
We will have volunteers helping you with parking.
SWIM COURSE
Attached
you will find the tentative seed file. I will post the file on the website and will indicate when it is final.
Due to the large turnout, some of you may have a bit of a wait before you get in the pool and begin racing.
I would advise you to bring a snack and chair so you don’t run out of energy before you begin. When the final seed file
is posted, you will be able to tell what time you will enter the water. Be sure to be on time!!!!!!
The swim course will begin on the right side of the shallow end and exit near the fence. You will swim
in a serpentine fashion from the right side of the pool to the ladder on the left side. You do not have to touch the wall.
For
safety purposes, we will NOT ALLOW FLIP TURNS and will assess flippers
with a time penalty. I know this is disappointing to some, but safety is most important!
BIKE COURSE
Our bike course is the same as 2010. This is the 1st time we haven’t had to
make a change. YAY!
PLEASE NOTE: Our course is open to traffic. You are a vehicle
on the road so you must abide by all rules of the road unless otherwise instructed by traffic control. We have worked
very hard to man all intersections with volunteers and/or professional volunteers (i.e. police, fire police) but you must
still use caution. I recommend carrying your cell phone in the event of a flat, etc. You can call 570-939-0712 if you have
any problems. We will have cars roving the course, but if you call us we can get to you quicker! Unfortunately, flats happen…be
prepared!
We are going to do our best to sweep the turns and remove as much gravel as possible but please use
extra caution on turns. Please listen to volunteers if they are telling you to use caution, as there are a few sharp turns.
We have marked the roads in some locations to remind you, so please take heed. The bike course is marked with arrows on the
road and we have volunteers as well signs on poles where possible. Please click here and take the time review the course.
Bike
helmets are MANDATORY. IPods, mp3 players, etc. are not allowed on the bike course.
RUN COURSE
The run course is the
same as in 2007, ’08, ’09 and ‘10. Click here for the route. Turn by turn directions are also on the site. Like the bike course, the run course will be marked with arrows on the road, volunteers and signs where possible; however
you should still review the attached course. NOTE: only go around the industrial park and pond on the way out.
TRANSITION AREA
At packet pick up
you will receive a label to attach to your bike. This number will match your bib number. We will have the area secured by
volunteers and you will not be able to leave the area with your bike unless the label and bib number/body marking match.
We want to make sure your gear is safe! The transition area
is only open to registered athletes. Please ask friends and family to stay out of the area. Bike slots are
taken on a first-come first-serve basis.
RELAYS PLEASE NOTE: All
transitions MUST be done in the grassy area of the pool or in the transition area.
Our transition area is gravel, so you will be permitted to leave your sneakers or other shoes in
the grassy area behind the pool area to protect your feet.
Please
remember that as soon as you begin the swim, the clock is ticking and doesn’t stop until you cross the finish line.
BATHROOMS
Bathrooms can be found in the ice rink/registration
building and in the pool locker rooms. We have also rented porta potties that will be stationed in the grassy area across
from the ice rink.
SPONSORS
and VOLUNTEERS
Please patronize and thank our sponsors, Dr. George Miller, Susquehanna Valley Prosthetics and Orthotics , the Lewisburg Hotel, Towne Tavern, Weis Markets and Road Id to let them know you appreciate their support. Without their contributions we wouldn’t have much of a race!
Our volunteers will be wearing white race t-shirts. If you need assistance please ask us, we are here to help. Please
also thank the volunteers…there couldn’t be a race without them!! They are doing their best to make our triathlon
a fun and secure event for our racers, their family and the entire Lewisburg community.
DIRECTIONS
From Rt. 15S…make a RIGHT onto St. Mary’s
Street at red light (Peking Garden will be on far right corner)
From Rt. 15N… make a LEFT onto St. Mary’s
Street at red light (Peking Garden will be on left corner)
MISCELLANEOUS
Don’t forget to bring the family. The Lewisburg Community Park is a beautiful place to play, picnic and swim.
The pool will be open after our event as well as the concession stand for family and friends. Post-race food will be provided
to racers.
If friends and family are coming to cheer you on, please ask them to bring a chair as seating is limited.
If you are not going to be able to participate, please let me know asap, so I can adjust the seeds before I
send the file to the timer.
KIDS TRIATHLON VOLUNTEERS
If you are picking up your bib on Friday night
and are interested in helping with the LARA Kids Triathlon, please let me know. It is a great event that requires a TON of volunteers, so if you are available to help, it would be
much appreciated!
That's it for now. Thanks for taking the
time to read this. We hope you have a great rest of the week and look forward to seeing you soon!

Ps…as you can see it is late/early, so please excuse me if I made
grammatical errors!
